Short answer: No — it shouldn’t.
🧠 First, let’s talk about what pain really means here:
There’s a big difference between:
- A bit of pressure during treatment
- Mild post-adjustment soreness (like what you’d feel after a new workout)
- Versus actual pain, discomfort, or guarding
Chiropractic care is about reducing pain — not creating it.
Adjustments are designed to be quick, specific, and as gentle as your body needs. Most people feel relief or lightness straight after — not pain.
👐 What does an adjustment actually feel like?
That depends on the technique — and on you.
If I’m using my hands (which I usually do), you might feel:
- A slight pressure
- A quick, controlled movement
- Sometimes a “click” or “pop” (that’s just gas being released from the joint — not bones cracking)
If I’m using a low-force or instrument-based technique, it’s often even gentler — no popping, no pressure, just a soft mechanical impulse.
😌 What if I’m sensitive, anxious, or in a lot of pain already?
That’s when we go slow, modify, and meet your body where it’s at.
There are plenty of gentle options that don’t involve any big movements or audible adjustments — and we always talk through everything first.
Your comfort and consent come first. Always.
💡 The bottom line is..
Chiropractic care should never feel like something being done to you.
It should feel like something being done with your body — to help it move, function, and recover better.
If anything ever doesn’t feel right, you can say so — and we’ll change it.
